If you want to keep the plant in vegetation and to make, it’s healthy and the well-developed specimen, then the young seedling must be grown for four to six weeks and then the flowering must be induced. During this duration, the plant must get 16 hours of light but the 18-20 hours are considered as very safe. If you want to do this indoors then even when you keep near to window in good sunlight, the lamp must be required. The lamp would be the most expensive in the process. However, there are other inexpensive lamps are also available that will do the job. Serious growers are using much more specialized and the expensive lamps. However, if you were looking only for the growth of one plant than other lamps would also work. Lamps like 250-watt high-intensity bulb, high-pressure sodium, and metal halide bulbs will work. This bulb can be found out easily in the hardware stores like Lowe’s and home depot which will cost around 25$. This bulb will require a special fixture of HID and ballast. This will not be able to screw in the standard home fixture safely. This fixture will be running for 200$.
If there is a very good window with good light coming from the portion of the day, the fluorescent bulbs will also work. These bulbs will supplement the required sunlight after the sunset. Fluorescent bulbs like T8’s, T5’s and even CFL will provide enough light and keep the plant in the state of vegetation.
Always remember that if the intensity of light is less than the plant will also develop slowly. Fluorescent bulbs are used only as an option when the supplement for the light is required for the plants. This can be used for the plants who are getting very strong light during the day. If the light during the day is weak, then the plant will stretch wildly and will not develop enough that can be harvested. In this case use, 250-watt HID bulbs.
